Blood Results

Just a quick update on Chloe’s blood results and weigh in today.  First off Chloe has not had a good few days of eating at all.  She has started teething and they really seem to be bugging her big time.  Since Friday she has been resisting feeding properly and would prefer me to rub her gums with my finger.  Yesterday she barely kept any of her Duocal down, it seemed the the excess salvia was making her gag even more than normal so not much stayed down at all.  There was lots of tears from the little poppet yesterday she was not a happy camper.  Because of this I was not looking forward to today at all.

So her weight was 4.14kg, so she has gained probably only less than 200g in the past month.  Also I had weighed Chloe a couple of days ago and she was 4.19kg but then the hospital scales do always weigh her about 60g less.  Good news though she is now 56cm, which means she has grown 3cm over the past month . . . YAY!!!!!!!!  I’m Pretty sure this is the most she grown within a month so far.  Her White Blood Cells were 23.7, we are aiming for 15 and Platelets were 174, they were already in the safe range of being over 160 but just good to confirm that they are continuing to improve.  She did so well with the blood test, recovering from her tears by was smiling and poking at the young male doctor afterwards.  I think he was definitely sucked in by cheeky charms.

She also had her 5 month immunisations, now they are worse than the blood tests.  The nurses decided to both jabs at the same time so it would be over and done with faster.  Poor girl was very upset afterwards, and only would have a tiny snack of milk at the hospital.  Glad we don’t have to go through the immunisations again for a while!

Had a chat to the Dietician about how Chloe is coping with the Duocal supplement and the how Chloe is having a bit of a boob strike at the moment.  I’m going to give her a bit of a rest from the supplement over the next couple of days to see if that will help her feed a bit more, cause it seemed that she was quite happy with just having the Duocal to satisfy her hunger for a bit and then would want me to rub her gums instead of feeding.  If things don’t improve over the next week they might look at giving her another fat supplement.  I’m kind of hoping for that cause they said this supplement is more of a liquid rather than the paste I’m giving her now, which would hopefully mean less gagging.

Over all she has coped pretty well with today, had a good feed and a decent sleep once we were home.  Thought I would give her some Pamol to help with her sore gums, it must of worked cause she was full of energy after her bath wriggling all over the place and talking up a storm.  Tonight she has had a big feed and went to sleep well.  I’m now logging off to go get some sleep myself cause these kind of days very draining.  Hopefully Chloe gifts both of us with a good night sleep.
