It’s been so long since I did a post, a lot longer than I wanted. I guess you could say because I haven’t done any posts things have been relatively good. There hasn’t been any dramas or to many worry’s, just enjoying spending my days with Miss Chloe.
Life in the Neville household is keeping me busy. When I’m not keeping Chloe occupied and feed, I’ve been busy keeping the garden and house under control. With our rather large vegetable garden to constantly weed and what seems to be the constant flow of laundry to do . . . who would think that a little girl could create so much extra dirty laundry.
I’m loving getting out into the garden when I can while Chloe naps during the day, it just doesn’t happen as much as I would like or need to do.
Chloe is doing really well lately (apart from currently having the sniffles/hayfever/teething). She hasn’t had to have any blood tests for a couple of months and won’t need to be tested until middle of January. We also are no longer are getting visits from the community nurse to weigh Chloe, it seems the paediatricians and dietitian finally trust me to monitor her weight and come to terms with the fact that Chloe’s body will do what it wants regarding putting weight on.
Chloe had been well with eating solids . . . apart from the past two weeks. She has learnt that she doesn’t have to swallow the food I put in her mouth, apparently it’s more fun to let it all collect in her mouth. She clenches her jaw and bites her gums together and make angry sounds, if it wasn’t so frustrating it would be cute. She will do this with all food apart from ice cream (which is not ideal) and sometimes yoghurt. Why she is doing this?????? I have a few theories on this – her gums/teeth are making it to uncomfortable to eat or having a partial blocked nose is just making it annoying or she is just going through a difficult phase. She is interested in a little bit of finger food but she still gags/vomits a bit to much on the soft finger foods for her to have it all the time. Hopefully this phase won’t last to long cause she had been doing so well with her weight gains but it’s gone back to bit of a stand still. She is still waking 3 to 5 times a night and I’m positive one of the reason is because she isn’t getting enough calories during the day. Trying to negotiate and explain with a strong willed 11 month old that if she doesn’t start eat properly again soon she will have to pay a visit to the doctors is bit of a losing battle
Couple of weeks ago we had a visit from a Nurodevelopment Therapist.
Her assessment of Chloe is that she has low tone core muscles but high tone upper and lower body. When standing you can see her curling her toes under and tenses her shoulders, as she is using the muscles in these areas with all her might to help keep balanced. The therapist has given me a few core strengthening positions to use during play time to help Chloe work the muscles she needs to. Sitting hadn’t been progressing very fast or well so we have been given a corner seat put her in and the difference it’s made is already showing in how long she can now sit unaided. Chloe still needs to learn that she can’t just fall back because she is over sitting but I’m sure she will figure that one out sooner or later.
She is rolling up a storm in her cot and has taken up going to sleep on her tummy but very really decides roll while playing. When she is on her tummy she moves her legs to side as to try to commando crawl but gives up pretty quickly. Her preferred method of getting around is holding onto our hands and walking, because of her urge to walk I think the crawling and walking is going to happen at the same time.
While the sounds “mum mum mama” have been used for quite sometime, “da da da” sounds have started to be used this week . . . Laurie is going to be one proud Dad to finally hear “Dadda”. It was a close call cause the past month there has been alot of effort into making “P” sounds and I thought that Poppy “Pop pop”our cat was going to win the place of Chloe’s second word.
That’s pretty much everything that’s been happening in Chloe’s world. We are super excited to be celebrating her first Christmas and starting new traditions.
